14 January, 2020
Like everyone moving home, we made a plan, lots of lists and tried to foresee every eventuality. The move itself went pretty well but also like everyone moving home, there were many things we hadn’t expected or planned for but I guess that's all part of the fun right?!
Desks, computers, files, chairs – everything had to make the 3 mile journey here. We’re luckier than some, most of what we do within estate agency is online, so all we had to hope for was a decent a reliable broadband service, and I’m pleased to say, so far, so good.
Everyone mucked in and 12 months on, we’re fully installed and very happy here. Goring Rd might not be the most exciting shopping street, but everything is here for the team, good coffee shops, supermarkets to get lunch supplies, stationers and even an old fashioned hardware store to pick up bits for all those impromptu repairs.
The sea is only 5 minutes’ walk too, so those brave enough to face the elements wander down there for lunch and fresh air which is great.
What a 12 months it’s been too! Aside from the excitement of moving, the property world has been on tenterhooks due to imminent Brexit and the December election. With much of the uncertainty now out of the way, we have already seen January showing signs of massive improvement in the numbers of people looking to buy this year.
We know that in some areas prices got a bit out of control, so a quieter 2019 was perhaps a good thing but it’s always reassuring to see people looking to invest in a new home which in turn, helps those sellers, perhaps stuck in limbo for a long time finally move on.
Since we’ve been in our new office we’ve moved from a pretty anonymous first floor office in town, to a ground floor with a shop window. We’ve been amazed by the amount of Worthing people who have called in, some to see what we do and others to get our help with local property they have struggled to sell with an estate agent nearby.
I’m pleased to say that in quite a few cases already, we have been able to find them a buyer where others have failed. To be honest, I’m not 100% why but think it is a combination of a new approach, great office in a busy street, and some innovative advertising that really gets results. Whatever it is, we hope to carry on doing it!
The whole team here is looking forward to a busy and productive year ahead and if we can, helping you to achieve your selling goal in 2020.
